'Alaska Day' isn't supposed to be 'Alaska Airlines Day' - UPDATE

But I guess it's as good a day as any for a series of mysterious announcements by the airline.

Alaska Airlines President Brad Tilden will make a important announcement
about the airline today to coincide with a series of celebrations the carrier is hosting statewide in celebration of Alaska Day. Three announcements are scheduled throughout the day in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau.
I'm guessing the airline will announce something about bringing its other airline, Horizon, into Alaska to serve feeder routes with those spiffy Q400 aircraft (larger, newer and nicer Dash 8). Feeder routes like ADQ-ANC. They're probably going to save the 737's for the long haul flights to the L48.

Oh! Alaska Airlines will be making an announcement (the same?) at Thursday's Business After Hours event in the convention center (where they'll also be giving away two tickets anywhere they fly). That starts at 5:30.

UPDATE - Ooh, we get to join a Club! It's Club 49 and it allows Alaskans to check two bags for free wherever we fly. That just makes my freakin' day.
